Why Product Feed Accuracy Matters on Pinterest
Pinterest has released a fresh set of guidelines aimed at helping merchants optimize their product listings for better organic and paid discovery. As reported by Social Media Today, the visual search platform noted that incomplete or vague catalog data can severely hurt search performance and ad auctions. Since Pinterest relies heavily on structured product feeds to match user intent, maintaining highly accurate metadata is essential.
The recommendation checklist highlights several key areas for brand managers. First, optimizing titles with specific brand names and descriptive patterns can raise return on ad spend (ROAS) by up to 28 percent. Pinterest also discourages over-segmenting catalogs into tiny subgroups. The platform suggests that ad groups perform best with at least 500 SKUs, allowing the algorithm enough signals to learn and target the right audiences effectively.
What This Means for Iranian Creators and Exporters
While direct integrated shopping features on Pinterest are challenging to use within Iran due to international payment limitations, the platform remains a powerful discovery engine. Iranian creators, boutique fashion designers, and exporters of local crafts (such as Persian rugs or handmade ceramics) often target global audiences or the diaspora. By manually optimizing their catalog files, utilizing rich descriptions in English, and keeping prices aligned with their external websites, Iranian sellers can leverage Pinterest's search algorithm to attract international buyers organically.
