Will Meta's massive AI bet pay off?
Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has channeled significant resources into developing artificial intelligence. According to a report by Social Media Today, the tech giant has spent hundreds of billions on data centers and expert hires. However, market adoption does not match Zuckerberg's hype, and many companies see little productivity impact. This high-risk strategy heavily resembles Meta's expensive and largely aborted push into the metaverse.
This shift directly impacts Iranian creators and businesses operating on Instagram. If Meta's AI ventures fail to generate expected profits, the platform may suppress organic reach to drive users toward paid ads, which are highly restricted for Iranian businesses. Furthermore, as feeds become saturated with AI-generated posts, the algorithm is likely to prioritize authentic human interaction. For local storefronts, maintaining genuine human connection with their audience remains the most sustainable marketing strategy.
